The defending champion is Kyren Wilson, who secured his first world title in 2024 by defeating Jak Jones 18-14 in the final. Wilson will aim to overcome the "Crucible curse," as no first-time champion has retained the title since the tournament moved to the Crucible Theatre in 1977. ​
